Two law enforcement officers, including one from the New York City Police Department (NYPD), were shot at a hotel in Woodbridge, New Jersey, on Wednesday night. They were exchanging gunfire with a suspect who was eventually killed.

Several law enforcement agencies, including the NYPD and the Woodbridge and Edison police departments, responded to the incident at the Raritan Hotel on King Georges Post Road.

The officers were investigating when they exchanged gunfire with the suspect. During the exchange, an NYPD officer was shot in the foot, and a local officer was also shot, though it’s not clear where.

Both officers are expected to recover from their injuries.

Police shot and killed the suspect at the scene, but the circumstances of the shooting are still unclear.

The president of the Detectives’ Endowment Association, Paul DiGiacomo, praised the officers for their courage and commitment to apprehending violent criminals. He emphasized that without their efforts, the suspect, who was wanted for attempted murder, could have harmed more people.

The New Jersey Attorney General’s Office is investigating the incident.
