A house fell down in Syracuse, New York, on Tuesday, hurting at least 11 people, according to officials.
Firefighters got calls around 4 p.m. about what seemed like an explosion at a two-story house, said Syracuse Fire Chief Michael Monds.
When firefighters got there, they found many people in the front yard. They had to rescue at least one person from a car trapped in the wreckage, Monds said.
The people who lived there, including kids and adults, were taken to Upstate University Hospital. Two of them were in really bad shape, Monds said. Fire officials said they found all 13 people who lived there by Tuesday evening, as reported by The Post-Standard.
Monds said the police and fire departments will look into why the house collapsed. He mentioned that firefighters also found power lines down and a strong smell of natural gas.
Over 50 firefighters came to help deal with the collapse. They had to take turns working because of the extreme heat in Syracuse and other parts of the country on Tuesday, according to Monds.
