Simone Biles is doing really well at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships in Fort Worth, Texas. She’s leading the competition by a lot, keeping ahead by 3.4 points over the next person. This puts her in a good position to win her ninth U.S. all-around championship, which would be a record, just before the Paris Olympics.

During the first day of competition, Biles showed why she’s such a star. She did amazingly on the vault, uneven bars, balance beam, and floor exercise. She even did a move named after her called the Yurchenko double pike on the vault, which helped her get the highest score of the night. Her routine on the floor, where she’s a world champion, was particularly impressive. She used music by Taylor Swift and brought back a difficult move she introduced before the Tokyo Olympics in 2020. With this strong performance, she scored over 60.000 in the all-around for the first time since 2021.

Biles’ coach, Cecile Landi, was really pleased with her performance, saying she met her goal of breaking the 60-point mark. Other top performers in the competition included Skye Blakely, Kayla DiCello, Suni Lee, and Leanne Wong.

Suni Lee, the reigning Olympic all-around champion, also did well, competing on all four events for the first time since the Tokyo Olympics. Despite facing kidney issues last season, she finished fourth overall, showing she’s still a strong contender for the Paris team.
