Media mogul Rupert Murdoch got married for the fifth time at his vineyard in California. The 93-year-old married Elena Zhukova, a 67-year-old retired Russian biologist. They tied the knot after Mr. Murdoch’s engagement to Ann Lesley Smith ended in 2023.
Rupert Murdoch, originally from Australia, has six children and used to be the chairman of News Corporation, which owns Fox News, the Wall Street Journal, the Sun, and the Times. He handed over the chairmanship of Fox and News Corp to his son Lachlan last year.
Mr. Murdoch and Ms. Zhukova reportedly met at a party hosted by one of his ex-wives, Wendi Deng. His previous marriages were to Patricia Booker, Anna Mann, and Jerry Hall.
Ms. Zhukova was previously married to Russian billionaire Alexander Zhukov, and their daughter Dasha was married to Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich.
Rupert Murdoch started his career in Australia and later bought UK newspapers like the News of the World and the Sun. He also owns US publications like the New York Post and Wall Street Journal. He founded Fox News in 1996.
Despite his successful career, Rupert Murdoch has faced controversies, including the UK phone-hacking scandal involving the News of the World. Last year, he announced stepping back from leading roles in his media companies, leaving them to his son Lachlan.
