A police officer bravely entered a house filled with smoke in Atlantic City to rescue a teenager and four pets. Officer Riley Flynn saved the teen and animals from a fire that broke out last month, and people are praising his heroic actions.

On Sunday, May 26, Officer Flynn rushed into a house on North Maryland Avenue multiple times to bring the 17-year-old girl to safety. He also rescued three dogs and one cat belonging to the family after a fire started in the kitchen.

While patrolling the area, Officer Flynn noticed a commotion outside the house and saw smoke, as well as the teenager hanging out of the second-floor window.

“I commend Officer Flynn for his quick actions in not only rescuing a teenager but also going back inside to rescue the animals who I know are part of their family,” said Chief James Sarkos in a statement.

Dramatic video from Officer Flynn’s body camera shows him talking to a group of people outside the house, who described their panic at not being able to enter.

Flynn then kicked down the front door and rushed into the house while smoke alarms blared. He found the teen and guided her outside before going back inside multiple times to save the family pets.
