The news about restaurants lately has been sad, especially for chain restaurants. Many are going bankrupt, closing some of their locations, and even shutting down completely. It’s tough to see this happening if you’re a fan, and unfortunately, it doesn’t seem like it will stop soon. California is one of the states hit hardest by these closures, possibly because it has more restaurant locations than most states or due to other reasons. More restaurants are expected to close this year, which might mean some changes in where people eat in California.

Cracker Barrel Closures in California

Cracker Barrel doesn’t have many locations in California, so it’s surprising when one closes. Recently, two stores in Northern California, in Sacramento and Santa Maria, shut down. It seems the stores weren’t doing well enough for the company. Hopefully, there won’t be more closures in the future.

Chili’s Closures in California

Chili’s has been a bit of a mystery lately, closing locations across the country without filing for bankruptcy. One store closed in Irvine, California, recently. While one closure might not be too alarming, it’s something to keep an eye on.

Applebee’s Closures in California

Applebee’s is planning to close stores nationwide, especially those not meeting company standards. With many locations in California, it was expected that some would close. One store in Antioch has already closed, and more closures might follow.

MOD Pizza Closures in California

MOD Pizza has closed over 25 stores nationwide, with five in California this year. The increase in the minimum wage for fast-food workers might have played a role, but this hasn’t been confirmed.

TGI Friday’s Closure in California

TGI Friday’s closed over 30 locations nationwide, including one in Fresno, California. It seems the decision was based on underperforming locations, similar to other chains.

Red Lobster Closures on the West Coast

Red Lobster filed for bankruptcy and closed over 80 locations, including six in California. While some locations remain open, you might have to travel a bit further to visit one.

Most of these restaurants are still in business, but more closures might happen in 2024. The list of closures could grow, so if you have a favorite nearby, continue to support it, as it might not be around for much longer.
