Florida rapper Julio Foolio was shot and killed early on a Sunday morning in a Tampa hotel parking lot. His lawyer, Lewis Fusco, confirmed this sad news to the local CBS News station in Tampa.
Around 4:40 a.m., police in Tampa got a call about a shooting at the Holiday Inn Tampa North. Two cars were shot at, and four people were hit by bullets, according to Jonee Lewis, a spokesperson for the Tampa Police, who spoke at a news conference.
One of the people shot was thought to be Charles Jones, aged 26, but the police are still waiting for confirmation of his identity from the medical examiner. It’s said that Jones is Foolio’s real name.
Three other people were also hurt in the shooting.
According to Fusco, Foolio had come to Tampa to celebrate his birthday at an Airbnb. But he was asked to leave because there were too many people there. Then he went to the Holiday Inn, where he was reportedly attacked unexpectedly.
Foolio, who has more than 1 million followers on Instagram, had shared with his followers that he was in Tampa for his birthday.
Guests at the hotel weren’t told to leave, but the police were there to help them if needed, Lewis mentioned.
The police are asking anyone with videos or information about the shooting to come forward and help with the investigation.
Lewis emphasized, “If you saw or heard anything, no matter how small, please let us know. Even the tiniest detail can help us understand what happened this morning.”
