SAN JOAQUIN COUNTY, Calif. —
Early Sunday morning, a car crash on Interstate 580 near Tracy killed one man and injured three others, all from San Rafael, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP).
The car was driving east on the highway near Chrisman Road around 1:04 a.m. when the driver made a sharp left turn and lost control. The car hit the metal guardrail, went down a dirt slope, and crashed into the freeway fence.
A 22-year-old man sitting in the front passenger seat died in the crash. The driver, a 28-year-old man, and a 24-year-old man sitting in the right rear seat were seriously injured. Another 24-year-old man in the left rear seat had minor injuries.
The driver and the two injured passengers were taken to the hospital. CHP said that alcohol and drugs are not suspected to be involved in the crash.
