SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — On Monday, a driverless Waymo car stopped two robbers during a police chase in San Francisco.
Around 2 a.m., a person was attacked and robbed on 8th Street near United Nations Plaza. The victim said a man and a woman stole cash and car keys, then drove away in the victim’s car.
Police found the stolen car near Harrison and 2nd Streets. When they tried to stop it, the robbers didn’t pull over, and a chase began.
The police lost sight of the car, but it soon crashed into a driverless Waymo car on Folsom Street near 14th Street, close to one of Waymo’s parking lots, according to a witness on Reddit.
The police caught the robbers. The 41-year-old man was arrested for having methamphetamine, and the 26-year-old woman was arrested for having a stolen car, conspiracy, and resisting arrest.
