A man from California died in a crash on Thursday morning at the border between California and Nevada.

The crash happened at 7:34 a.m. near a highway called Interstate 15, just north of a point called Mile Marker 0.

Nevada State Police said that a 1999 Chevrolet pickup truck was driving north on I-15 when, for reasons that are not known, the driver lost control of the truck. It veered off the road onto the right shoulder and hit a metal guard rail.

After hitting the guard rail, the truck went onto a rough area with dirt and gravel, causing it to flip over.

The driver, identified as Frank Anthony Garcia Sr., aged 61 and from Long Beach, was pronounced dead at the scene.

This crash is the 28th fatal crash and the 35th fatality in the area patrolled by the Nevada State Police Highway Patrol Southern Command in 2024.
