A person died on Sunday evening when a train hit their vehicle in San Joaquin County, according to Union Pacific.
The incident occurred around 6 p.m. at the intersection of East Armstrong Road and Pearson Road, near the southern area of Lodi close to the Morada neighborhood.
The California Highway Patrol investigated and found that a driver in a white Honda was going west and tried to cross the tracks in front of an oncoming train.
The driver died at the scene, CHP said.
Union Pacific reported that no one on the train was hurt, and CHP officers are investigating the crash.
