A man from Las Vegas was arrested after stealing a car and attacking a deputy during a chase that went through California and Nevada.
According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff-Coroner Department, 31-year-old Daniel Waggoner was caught after a chase that started near a Shell Gas station in Needles, California, and ended south of Searchlight, Nevada. This was reported by the SBSD – Colorado River Sheriffs Department.
The incident happened on June 3. Deputies from the Colorado River Station were informed about the theft around 10:00 P.M. When they saw the stolen car, they tried to stop Waggoner. Instead of stopping, he led them on a long 90-mile chase.
During the chase, Waggoner drove dangerously and deliberately hit a deputy’s car with the stolen vehicle, putting the officers in great danger.
To end the chase safely, local law enforcement got help from the Nevada Highway Patrol, Boulder City Police, and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police.
Fortunately, no civilians or officers were injured during the chase.
The chase ended on U.S. Highway 95, where Waggoner was arrested. He is now facing several serious charges in both states involved. This incident shows how different law enforcement agencies can work together to keep the public safe.
