A man from Brooklyn was given a prison sentence for his involvement in a drug trafficking group that moved large amounts of cocaine from New York to Boston in August 2020.
Dinelson Hernandez-Rodriguez, 30, was sentenced to 68 months in prison and three years of supervised release by U.S. District Court Judge Patti B. Saris after being found guilty of conspiracy to distribute and possess cocaine in February 2024.
The investigation, which began in October 2019, targeted a group trafficking cocaine and fentanyl in Boston and Taunton. Hernandez-Rodriguez was identified as a key player who transported cocaine from New York to Hyde Park in August 2020 using a hidden compartment in his Honda Pilot. He and a co-conspirator transported more than 50 kilograms of cocaine for distribution in Boston.
After distributing the cocaine, Hernandez-Rodriguez tried to take $240,240 in drug profits back to New York hidden in his car but was caught by law enforcement.
He is the ninth person convicted in this case, either through guilty pleas or after a trial.
