Hello! My name is Harlan Gonzales. I am a student at Sacramento City College studying Computer Science. When I am not studying, I am usually working as a supervisor at a coffee shop. Although my schedule tends to stay busy, I still find time for the things I love such as performing improv, learning a language, or taking the train somewhere new.
I have only been doing improv for under a year, but it has helped me to become more outgoing and to think quickly under pressure. Although I am still new to the game and there’s a lot for me to learn, I enjoy being able to stand in front of a (small) crowd and attempt to make people laugh.
I am California’s biggest public transit and passenger rail supporter which goes hand-in-hand with my love for urban planning. Whenever the opportunity arises, I find myself going to the Bay Area just to get on BART or CalTrain and explore somewhere new. When the California High Speed Rail finally opens, you bet I will be among the first to ride it all the way to LA. In fact, if you know me, you know that I talk about BART just about every waking moment. Did you know BART is fully automated? The operator is there purely to supervise the system.
Along with an interest in passenger rail, I also have a passion for community and people. I enjoy meeting and chatting with my neighbors, attending community events, and generally being around others. I like to think of everyone as a friend so if you see me around, don’t be shy to say “hi!”
I am super excited to start writing for Sacramento’s AccessLocal.TV. During my time here, I hope to write stories and share news about how great Sacramento is. Our seemingly small city has a lot to offer and it’s an honor to be able to write about this city that I love!
