For the second time in its history, the Rosemont High School Wolverine football team carries an undefeated record into its fifth game as it prepares to meet the visiting Kennedy Cougars Friday evening.
Access Sacramento’s live telecast of the game on the Hometown Sports Game of the Week begins at 7:00 pm and may be seen in Sacramento County on Comcast or Consolidated Communications Cable channel 17, and AT&T U-Verse channel 14. The game will also be streamed live from AccessSacramento.org and on the NFHS Network.
A Wolverine’s victory would lift their record to 5-0, enabling them to maintain the top spot in the Sierra Valley Conference, one game ahead of the Galt Warriors at the mid-way point of the regular season.
Kennedy Head Coach, Brian Lewis is looking for answers as the Cougars enter play with an 0-3 mark in search of some offensive production that has been absent. In three starts, Kennedy has been outscored 141-40 thus far. Senior QB Jacob Modellas is at the helm and relies heavily on versatile Kamren Brown to provide the spark for the Cougars’ offense.
On defense, Rover Thomas Walker, DL Taylen Taylor, LBs Dante Adams and Darion Wilson, and DB Rajan Day must lead a better effort by a defensive unit that has allowed more than 40 points per game.
In direct contrast, Rosemont Head Coach, Rick Wanlin guides a confident team that has rolled to four easy victories while averaging 41 points per game.
Senior QB Kyle Masterson has fired nine TD passes this season, seven of them to WR DeMarco Brodnax. RBs Zion Gedeon and Nick Lopez have combined for nearly 450 yards and five touchdowns.
Defensively, the Wolverines have been stingy, allowing fewer than seven points per game.
It’s a tall task facing visiting Kennedy in search of its first victory of the season while playing the third of five consecutive road games against the host Wolverines.
