Earth Day 2019 – Sacramento Earth Day is all about building community and finding ways to help residents of the Greater Sacramento Region reduce our ecological footprint. Attend the festival for the opportunity to learn about a vast array of methods to live more sustainably.  Around 150 organizations and businesses will be exhibiting a multitude of practical information, goods and services that cultivate a healthier, greener way of living. You’ll also find a variety of fun activities to enjoy for the whole family, including live music, interactive educational games and a kids’ area. There will be several food vendors serving a range of plant-based (vegan) cuisine options. We’ll also have electric vehicles to check out. Featuring local art, environmentally-protective products and even valet parking for your bicycle! This is the largest Earth Day celebration in the Sacramento region, and admission is free! The 2019 theme at Sacramento Earth Day is “There’s No Place Like Earth.” Amid the challenges we face in daily life, we must never neglect the beautiful planet on which we live. Our event is a celebration of all that the earth provides us for sustainability, and a call to action to protect these vital resources. Sacramento Earth Day is organized by the local nonprofit organization, the Environmental Council of Sacramento (ECOS). The mission of ECOS is to achieve regional and community sustainability and a healthy environment for existing and future residents.  Don Knutson will be joining host Ray Tatar to talk about the upcoming event.  For More Information:

A New Play about Sacramento Mass Murderer Dorothea Puente – A rare opportunity to see into the development process of a play! Come see the workshop reading of this play by Mark Lowenstern, in the Wilkerson Theater at the R25 Arts Complex, home of California Stage.  One Performance Only: April 27, 2019.  Directed by Megan Cooper, read by Janis Stevens, Richard Falcon,  Ernesto Bustos, Erin Renfree, Jim Anderson, Olivia Lopez, Monica Vejar, Richard Winters and Joss Lucio.  Ray Tatar, Artistic Director of California Stage Theater, has offered a few seats for people interested in following the development of a play from the reading of a first draft through to the opening night of the finished play.  Playwright Mark Loewenstern has presented us with a searing vision of the complex Ms. Puente. Part con-artist, part schemer and consummate liar, Dorothea worms her way into the good graces of the social services system, the police department and even the inner circle of the Bishop of Sacramento. Dorothea falsely portrays herself as a Mexican immigrant and a wealthy benefactor of the Latino community, all the while cashing the government support checks of her boarders, people she has buried in her back yard.  For more Information:
