Folsom Quarterback #1 Kaiden Bennett & Lineman #72 Tucker Dunbar

Eager to avenge last year’s stunning upset loss to the Sacramento Dragons that broke Folsom‘s remarkable 52-game CIF-SJS winning streak, Kaiden Bennett and the top-ranked Bulldogs climbed off the Hughes Stadium turf to register a clutch 28-19 comeback victory over a determined Sacramento High School football team in Access Sacramento‘s Game of the Week.

Will James and Jim Dimino call the highlights:

The contest was played before a raucous crowd that ebbed and flowed proportionately with each wild twist and turn on the field by two intensely driven, undefeated teams.

Sacramento Quarterback #12 Derek Shelton

Playing with fierce determination, sixth-ranked Sacramento appeared to be on its way to deal Folsom another setback as the Dragons took control with an early 10-0 lead thanks to the superlative all-around play of Sacramento’s Anthony Bradley.

Sacramento scored first on a short Esau Perez field goal following a fumble recovery.  Bradley then took matters into his own hands. He made a leaping interception of a Bennett aerial, and moments later hauled in a scoring pass from quarterback Derek Shelton to send a harsh wake up call to the Bulldogs.

Folsom #14 Elijhah Badger Touchdown Reception

The early shock treatment awakened a struggling Bennett, whose 26-yard scoring connection with wide receiver Elijah Badger started Folsom’s comeback.

Another Perez field goal accounted for Sacramento’s 13-7 lead at the half, until Bennett and Badger combined for a 46-yard touchdown connection midway through the third quarter to place the Bulldogs on top, 14-13.

Early in the fourth quarter, Shelton connected with Daunte Moore to pull the Dragons within 21-19, but tough Folsom defense and Bennett’s 10-yard touchdown run sealed a 28-19 victory in a fierce battle played with playoff intensity.
