Do not mess up another meal! The Food Literacy Center will be holding free cooking classes on Saturday July 25th and on Monday August 3rd to help you make the best meal possible.
The Food Literacy Center will hold the class on Saturday July 25th at 9:30 am and Monday August 3rd at 6:30 pm. The classes will take place at Oak Park Sol at 3733 Broadway.
The classes are one hour in length and people who attend will be learning many different recipes. Ingredients include fruits and veggie that are fresh and healthy from local farms.
“The (people who will be attending the cooking classes) will be learning two recipes,” says Randy Stannard, Board President for Oak Park Sol. “Most of it is chopping up different fruits and vegetables.”
The cooking classes are open to the public and participants should come with a bit of an appetite because you will be eating what you cook. Those who attend the class will be given a $5 gift card to spend at the Oak Park Farmers Market.
The Oak Parks Farmers Market is held every Saturday from 9 am to 1 pm at McClatchy Park. It features some of the harvests from local Oak Park community farmers.
Many of the Oak Park community members will be attending these classes, says Stannard.
“This is a great way for people to create community connections and relationships through chatting while cooking and eating.”
To register for the class you can contact Randy Stannard at RStannard@oakparksol.org or (530)204-8082.
