The Inderkum Tigers turned a six point halftime lead into a 42-point 2nd half romp over the Rio Linda Knights in Access Sacramento’s Game of the Week, earning a 62-21 victory and claiming the Tri-Valley Conference title.

While Rio Linda controlled the overall time of possession 31 minutes to Inderkum’s just 17 minute, the Tigers kept gaining the breakaways, generally scoring in four or five plays and gaining 70 or more yards. Twice the Tigers broke off first play from scrimmage scores with Larry Hardy dashes of 22 and 42 yards, taking just :07 and :09 off the clock.

Inderkum now 8-1 overall and 5-0 in conference play earns the title with just one-week to go in regular season play.  Rio linda is now 7-2 overall and 3-2 in the Tri-Valley Conference.

Inderkum’s Austin Thurman carried the ball 19 times for 185 yards and three TD’s on runs of 77, 14 and one yard to lead the Tigers attack, which totaled 457 ground yards on 42 attempts.  Larry Hardy, who scored four times including a 33 yard pass from Jonathan Henry in the 1st quarter.

Rio Linda’s conference leading runner Marcel Brown was held to 58 yards on 15 carries, although the Knights back field shared the effort as quarterback Zak Burden gained 108 yards on 13 carries including a 42 yard TD dash, Calvin Robinson had 17 rushes for 71 yards including a 10 yard TD run, and Pieter Koopman had 12 carried and 43 yards including a three-yard TD run to start all scoring in the 1st quarter.
