“The Map of Life”

There’s something fun and something serious on LiveWire this week. Both will entertain and inform you.

Our first guests include Isabella Powers and friends. Isabella is young filmmaker and actress and you may have seen her on Isabella’s Animal Show, Kid’s Corp, or Mark at the Movies reviewing films for kids. In the past year or so she has made a few short films including one in which she plays chess with Mayor Johnson. This year her film “The Map” will be premiering at the Guild Theatre this month. It’s an adventure that will have two young Sacramentans traveling around town to find a treasure. For these friends It’s all about the adventure!

We’ll also have a serious topic this week which includes guests from the play “The Normal Heart” by Larry Kramer. This multi-award winning play speaks about the AIDs crisis and utilizes the story of several friends living in New York as part of the gay community during the time of the new  ‘mysterious illness’. Directed by Michael Hedges & Andrew Gibout, this play is touching and captures an important and powerful time in many people’s lives.

The play runs now through August 3rd at the Ooley Theatre located at 2007 28th Street in Sacramento. The play is presented by the Closet Door Theatre.
