Go on a journey through Middle-earth with scholars and experts as your guides. This fall, fans of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings have the opportunity to experience their favorite literature like never before. The Sacramento Public Library’s Central branch is hosting a free series of events devoted to Tolkien’s most popular works.
Audiences have already been rapt by surprisingly accessible talks about archetypes led by Chico State University Religion Professor Jed Wyrick, and morality by Sacramento State University Philosophy Professor Thomas Pyne. The lighter side of programming includes a costuming talk and fashion show that was led by Sacramento City College Design Professor Lynne Giovannetti, and an upcoming swordplay demonstration by fencing masters from Sacramento Sword School.
Full Circle: An Exploration of Tolkien’s The Lords of the Rings will continue on first and third Sundays through December at 2 p.m.
