It’s August, and man is it hot, plus summer break is ending soon. So say goodbye to the all-niters, sleeping in, watching countless hours of MTV while chatting on Facebook, and most of all, say goodbye to that precious homework-free living. But hey, if you want to send summer packing in style, a good old ice cream social should just do the trick. So on August 12th come hang out with Black United Fund of Sacramento Valley (BUFSV) for their Back to School Ice Cream Social.

The Main objective of the Back to School Ice Cream Social is to gather and donate school supplies to a couple of local programs serving homeless children. The school supply list consists of: pens, pencils, binder paper, folders, color crayons, colored markers, backpacks, notebooks, dictionaries, student size calculators, computer paper, drawing pads, art supplies, colored pens, glue sticks, and child size and adult scissors.

Donating school supplies to students who can not afford it gives them ahead start in school because kids that are prepared for school are likely to succeed in school versus the kids who aren’t. So with all that said, this shindig will be taking place at the BUF’s office center which is located on 4104 44th Street from 4:00 pm-6:00 pm. Everyone is welcome so bring the whole family and come socialize.
