Hello people of Sacramento! My name is Elizabeth Ramirez and I am 21-years-old. I was born in Portaville California, but I was raised here in Sacramento. I live in the Oak Park area, a lot of people I know think it’s a bad area but I don’t think so. Sure, maybe some areas need improving, but I love it here. I love how there is so many different cultures in my community. No two things look the same, some houses look very old and some houses look brand new. One thing I noticed about my community is that almost everyone has a dog in their front yard; some people I know would say it’s an Oak Park thang. Another thing that’s cool is there is a corner store within walking distance from the neighborhoods so if you’re thirsty you don’t have to walk far to get a cool drink.

Personally, I’m very interested in photography. I enjoy taking pictures of everyone and everything. I mostly enjoy taking pictures of landscapes. I also love music, I couldn’t live without music. Music has always been a part of my life, even during my toddler days when I would dance to Barney and Sesame Street. To me, music can be powerful and is one of the best ways a person can express their feelings.  I am also interested in becoming a photo journalist in the future, but if that doesn’t work out I will till try to be a photographer.

I have always wanted to use a journal, or I guess you can say “blog”, about things that are important to me. That is why I am very excited to join the accesslocal.tv project. This gives me the opportunity to have a voice and be creative. When I was told that I would be doing projects on my community I thought “That is so cool.” I said to myself, “There’s so many things going on in my community that I can write about, whether it’s good or bad.” I’ve always wanted to do something like this, I’ve always wanted to have a voice in my community.

The experience I hope to gain from the accesslocal.tv project is to learn how to be more social with people I don’t know, and to be able to approach people with questions about our community. I also hope to be more creative in my blogs. And that’s all for now people, until next time!
