At a time when so many of us are lost without spell check, the library will celebrate those who can spell the old fashioned way—standing in front of a crowd with a number pinned to their shirt. “For the Spell of It,” one of alt+library’s First Friday events, will be held at the North Sacramento Library (2109 Del Paso Blvd.) on April 6th at 7:00 p.m. This is a spelling bee for adults, and with a twist—cheating is allowed, for a price—for $1 you can ask a member of the audience for spelling help and $5 gets you 20 seconds with a dictionary. Any funds raised will benefit the alt+library Friends group which supports fun and innovative library programs for adults. Prizes will be awarded for first and last place–Book Lovers Scrabble and a dictionary respectively. First, second, and third place also net you bragging rights and alt+library swag. RSVP at www.meetup.com/altlibrary or register to compete at http://ow.ly/9fW95.
