A Sacramento team that is participating in the Polar Plunge fundraiser benefiting the Special Olympics Northern California & Nevada needs your help to make their event a huge success. If you’ve never heard of the Polar Plunge, the simple explanation is that it is an event where a bunch of crazy people jump into Lake Tahoe in the middle of March in order to raise cash for charity. This will be the Sacramento team’s third year participating and last year they were awarded as the “Top Community Fundraisers”. They hope that with your help they’ll be able to live up to that name again this year.
The Sacramento team goes by the nickname of The Polar Pops. You can help the local team with their fundraising endeavors by eating at Chili’s on Howe Ave this Tuesday, February 21st, between 4 and 9 PM. If you do so and present the attached flyer (you must print it out for the funds to be awarded) to your server at the end of your meal they will donate 10% of your check (excluding alcohol and sales tax) to the Special Olympics. Not only is this an important cause, Chill’s is making it really easy to support them.
If you can’t make the Chill’s event you can also make a donation to the local group by clicking here.
I can’t thank you enough for your supporting our team by getting the word out there about what we are doing. Myself and a small group started this team just two years ago, and are amazed at the growth we have made each year. The Polar Plunge is one of the largest fundraisers for the Special Olympics and it warms my heart every time I see people donate to this great cause. Without the money raised, athletes in the Northern California and Nevada region wouldn’t be able to participate in the year-round sports that they love! It’s because of people’s donations and support that we as a group are able to contribute to this every year! Yes, we may be the one dressed up in a goofy different theme attire each year, and yes, we are the ones crazy enough to jump into the freezing waters of Lake Tahoe every March for this cause, however it’s because of others that we are able to spread the word, gain support and raise money for these wonderful athletes and orginization, so thank YOU!!
