“Downtown: Everything’s Waiting for You”

This week LiveWire features The Sacramento Downtown Association the Morris League Baseball Bloggers. There’s Baseball at Raley’s Field and folks playing in parks. People are out and about having fun downtown. Find out what’s waiting for you!

We will get a visit from Lisa from the Downtown Sacramento Association. She will be telling us about all the fun and interesting things happening and that you can be a part of in the heart of the city. There are several fun events including The 16th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade, Sacramento Museum Day, Historic Old Sacramento activities, and more. Grab a map or one of the city tour guides wearing their signature yellow windbreakers and ask them questions about the city. They can tell you secrets about the underground tunnels and the history and changes of K Street. If you want to get a little exercise or just take a leisurely walk there’s a wonderful river trail or walk around the State Capital Gardens down the Capital Mall across the Tower Bridge. There’s also lots of local theaters with everything from dinner shows on the Delta King to Wicked in The Sacramento Community Theater. There’s also movie theatres including a modern theatre in Mall, the beautifully restored Crest Theatre, or take in an Imax 3D film. There’s so much to do, you’ wont get bored. Also joining us this week on LiveWire is The Morris League Bloggers. They will be on the show to talk about their upcoming event and game and their blog which includes a podcast, videos, and even more than just baseball. They will be showcasing the Morris league at their exhibition game against and outside league, Cal Berkeley club team on February 4th. We will also learn about their upcoming event, The Negro League Conference. Morris league will be hosting this historical event that will be a panel discussion about the history of the Negro League and African American baseball. The panel will include former members of the Negro League, the Major Leagues, and also local high school coaches. The event takes place at Sacramento State on February 24th.
