Every year, fancy sports cars gather at the door of Shriners Children Hospital. The community gathers to donate toys and help the children who are less fortunate.
Christmas time has become the season of happiness, love, and giving back to others. Shriners Hospital for Children is an organization that revolves around these three qualities not only during Christmas time, but throughout the entire year. Shriners Hospital in Sacramento is a non-profit that specializes in helping children with neuromusculoskeletal conditions, burn injuries, spinal cord injuries, and other special healthcare needs.
This year, to bring the holiday spirits to their patients, Shriners will be hosting their 2nd Annual Teddy Bear Drive. This event is going to be hosted by The Atomic Angels, a Northern California charity group, on Friday, December 21st at Marilyn’s on K Street. The teddy bear drive will start at 4:00 pm and last until 8:00 pm with free entry to all of those who bring a teddy bear.
The Atomic Angels is a group of women who posses a passion for helping those in need. These women help empower other nonprofits through events, fundraisers, and donation drives while having their main focus of enhancing our community be as fun and enjoyable as possible. At the Shriners 2nd Annual Teddy Bear Drive there will be several games for people to play and fun prizes as rewards. They will also be having Christmas caroling karaoke style and a delightful cookie bar for everyone to make their own dessert.
“Holiday charity events are very important to us and they are an exciting time for the staff and patients,” Shriners nurse, Valerie Radloff, says. “The teddy bear drive was a huge success last year and the children were completely thrilled to receive their new toys, especially since a lot of them are in the hospital for long periods of time. The outcome of this holiday drive is a great way to get the patients to smile and feel like kids again.”
