The Monterey Trail Mustangs defeated the Pleasant Grove Eagles 28-14 to advance in the opening round of the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section‘s Division-1 football playoffs on Access Sacramento’s Game of the Week.

Mustangs Antonio Williams and Caleb Ramseur were named Players of the Game by Access Sacramento for Monterey Trail.  The Mustangs are now 10-1 overall (champions at 5-0 in the Metro League) and travel to Stockton next Friday Nov. 15 to face St. Mary’s.

Eagles’ quarterback Nathan Valencia and running back Chris Weinberg were named Access Sacramento’s Players of the Game for Pleasant Grove. The Eagles finish their season at 6-5 overall, 2-4 in powerful Delta League, having made the playoffs this season after a 0-10 record last year.

Hometown Sports Game of the Week will have another CIF Playoff game again next Friday. The game match-up will be announced officially after approval by the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section office.
