“We want freedom, freedom! All these racist a** cops, we don’t need ‘em, need ‘em!” screamed the crowd of hundreds of students from schools all over the Sacramento Area on Thursday.

Students of all colors were speaking out against the injustice and murder of Stephen Clark by Sacramento Police. Recently, the final say on whether or not Stephon Clark’s killers would be brought to face charges came out. The answer was “no” and many citizens are furious.

“When South Sac is under attack, what do we do? Stand up fight back!”

Local rapper and activist known as Brazzey Liberty rallied participants as they marched. Encounters with police often caused anger and distress, but participants were quickly reminded to stay calm and collected.

The march not only shut down Broadway but made a stop at Sacramento Charter High School to demand that students be let out and allowed to express their 1st amendment right to free speech.

While on the corner of 34th and Broadway, protestors stopped to speak on gentrification.

“Gentrifiers! Come through!” said the crowd in unison as students from American Legion came running in.

Overall, the protest came as a reminder to those on the streets that Sacramento citizens, especially youth, will not stand down until justice is served for Stephon Clark.
