The Elk Grove Thundering Herd scored 20 fourth quarter points in a come from behind Delta League match up topping the Cosumnes Oaks Wolfpack 27-17 to set up a possible playoff berth.

Elk Grove scored first on quarterback Carter Harris’ final one-yard keeper after leading a 91-yard march down the field.  Wolfpack star senior running back Jacob Trach picked up TDs in the 2nd and 3rd quarters for a 14-7 lead and kicker Kevin Duarte added a 36-yard field goal to cap Cosumnes Oaks Scoring early in the fourth period.

But in the next nine minutes, the Thundering Herd put up 20-points to take the victory. Elk Grove Running back Damien Allen carried the ball 19 times for 156 yards and grabbed two of the final quarter TDs.

The Herd’s momentum had been foiled twice earlier in the game by fumbles picking up by Cosumnes Oaks defense, but Elk Grove senior free safety Nick Woolstencroft grabbed his own defensive success sealing the game scoring with 1:11 left by snagging an interception for a 40-yard TD return.
