Screen Shot 2015-10-05 at 1.47.12 PMOn October 3rd, Sacramento Covered hosted their 15th annual Healthy Kids Day. This was a free community event that took place at the Sleep Train Arena from 10am to 3pm.

This event was aimed to help children understand nutritional value and how to have access to primary care.

“We are hoping that today encourages them to be empowered to access health care,” said Rose Hanks, the Grant and Fund Development Coordinator for Sacramento Covered. “I hope they get connected to the programs that are maybe too complicated or can be really daunting for them to get enrolled into.”

The event featured medical services, dental screenings, lunches, flu shots, a farmers market, dance numbers, singers, dance classes, and fun booths sponsored by Raise the Wage, the Sacramento Kings, and more.

“I think it’s great to see everyone that is in the area; everything from dental to medical to even daycares,” said Angie Brown, a participant of the event. “It’s great to learn who’s in the area for my kids if I need to take them somewhere I didn’t know prior.”
