When it comes to overwhelming size and blistering speed, the Grant Pacers have to be rated as the undisputed leaders in these classifications throughout the CIF Sac-Joaquin Section (SJS).

This distinction is based on a massive offensive line that averages more than 300 pounds per man, and a running back tandem that sizzles like no other in the region.

The combination of these remarkable attributes distinguishes Coach Mike Alberghini‘s Pacers as definite favorites in Access Sacramento‘s Friday Sept. 25 evening telecast of the Hometown Sports Game of the Week when they face the host Franklin Wildcats at Cosumnes Oaks High School.

This Delta League match-up may be seen at 7 pm on Comcast Cable TV channel 17, Consolidated Communications channel 17, AT&T U-Verse channel 14, and on the Internet at AccessSacramento.org.

Alberghini, whose #2-ranked Pacers will prance into Friday evening’s match-up with a 3-0 record, is in his 25th year as Grant’s head football coach, having guided the Pacers to a record 24 consecutive playoff appearances.  Along the way, he has accumulated 246 victories leading to 18 leagues crowns, 7 SJS titles, and a 2008 CIF State Championship; the first ever in a major sport by a Sacramento area team.

The 2015 edition of Pacer Pride is in quest of another title with running backs Deshawn Collins and Mike Green sharing center stage. This exciting duo has already combined for 877 yards and 11 TD’s and is sure to add to that total Friday evening in Elk Grove.

Coach Mike Johnson‘s upset-minded Wildcats, having lost only to state power, Bellarmine Prep of San Jose, will bank on the prowess of quarterback Jacob Lopez, versatile 2-way star Lamar Jackson, and standout defenders Rahsaan York and Kaderro Tamondong to derail the Pacer Express.

This upper tier clash, featuring several division-1 college recruits, is definitely worth the wait and the watch.
