capChristian_logoAccess Sacramento’s Hometown Sports Game-of-the-Week broadcast crew visits Capital Christian High School Friday evening when the defending CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division-6 Champion Cougars play host to the invading Rio Americano Raiders to kickoff the 2015 high school football season in a Week-Zero opener.

RioAmericano_logoThe live Game of the Week  broadcast starts at 7 p.m. on Access Sacramento, Comcast and Consolidated Communications Channel 17, AT&T U-Verse Channel 14 and live streamed from AccessSacramento.org.  Play by Play announcer for Game of the Week again this year is Will James, with analysis by CIF Hall of Fame Coach Jim Dimino, with sideline interviews by Rick Stewart. TV replays of Game of the Week are on Saturday at 11 a.m. Sunday at 3 a.m., and then the following Tuesday at 7 p.m., Wednesday at 11 a.m. and Thursday at 3 a.m.

This match-up poses a stiff challenge to Raiders’ second-year Head Coach, Michael Willis, who brings a young squad into a tough road contest with hopes of improving on a rugged 1-9 campaign a year ago.

Quarterback Jack Seipman, RB Jonah Cartwright, and versatile Blake Spenser spark the Raiders’offense, while LBs Ryan Juba and Danny Miller lead the defense.

Despite the graduation of sixteen key players, Capital Christian Head Coach, Phil Grams still brings plenty of talent and firepower to the table.

The Cougars are led by third-year starting junior quarterback, Jacob Norville who guided his squad to a 13-1 season and a SJS title as a sophomore.  Norville passed for 1621 yards with 22 touchdowns and posted a Quarterback Rating of 122.6.  Moreover, Norville is the only area quarterback on record to call his own plays.

Antonio Gutierrez and Colin Russo lead the running attack, while Jack Haney and Nathanial Thompson return as Norville’s primary targets.  The defensive line is anchored by Weston Jones and the secondary by Marcus Fowler and Jack Haney.

This contest marks the first of 11 consecutive Friday night Game of the Week telecasts extending through the first Friday of November, covering fourteen teams listed in Dimino’s Dozen Pre-Season Top-20 rankings.
