This week we’re playing catch up with theFranklin Community Library who is promoting their 2015 poetry slam and we’re welcoming back the Brazilian Center for Cultural Exchange who is currently fundraising for their nonprofit organization.

Calling all poets, grades 7 through 12! Do you have an original poem that you would like to share? Read your poem and compete for one of the Target gift card prizes. There will be two divisions: 7th-8th grade and 9th-12th grade. Entries will be judged on originality, content and presentation.


Entry Guidelines: teens must be in grades 7-12, entry must be original work of participant, poem must be no longer than one page, all entries must be submitted in 12-point Arial font, your name, school, and grade level must appear on the top of the page, and all entries must be submitted at least 1 hour before contest begins.


We also invite enthusiastic audience members to cheer on the poets. This free event is sponsored by the Friends of the Franklin Community Library.

The Brazilian Center For Cultural Exchange is a grassroots, non-profit 501(c)3 organization that proactively assists at-risk children and provides assistance to individuals, families, and the community.
