Andrew GilbertI was born in Atlanta on June 27 , 1995. My father Michael and my mother Lillian had been married for seven years with a 5 year old daughter named Mandy. Being a pilot, my father was gone away from home almost half the time leaving my mother at home to take care of us.

We moved to California when I was three in pursuit of my dads new job. Not having any siblings close to my age made me very independent growing up. My dad being gone all the time, I became very close to my mother. At the age of four my parents were divorced after ten long years of marriage. I was too young to understand what was going on, but my sister was there to guide me through it. I still saw my Dad very often when he was in town, but it was just different.

I attended Jackson Elementary School in El Dorado Hills and played sports like baseball, basketball, and soccer. I was a very outgoing kid and never was shy to a new friend. At the age of thirteen, my mother moved my sister and I back to Georgia in hopes of a new life closer to all of our relatives. Being born in Georgia did not make me a Georgia kid though. California called my name. I attended eighth and ninth grades in Athens, but soon after I returned to live with my mother back in El Dorado Hills for the remainder of my high school years.

My mother was diagnosed with cancer in 2009, so high school was filled with a lot of ups and downs. I soon found close acquaintances at my school with whom I spent almost every day with. Skateboarding was my sport of passion through my teen years, and I spent almost every afternoon at the skate park and doing homework.

Filming and acting was a huge hobby of mine throughout high school. I exercised my passion for acting by attending Studio 24 classes in Sacramento, performing in short films and non-paid and paid roles while also writing material on my own.

I graduated high school in 2013 to find myself taking a year off of school to work and ”take a break.” I occupied my time by working at a restaurant called Relish Burger.

Reporting as a Neighborhood News Correspondent for AccessLocal.Tv is a great honor of mine and I look forward to many future stories to come.
