On October 15th, members of the community of South Oak Park came together at Oak Ridge Elementary School in order to tackle some of the area’s most persistent problems. As well as residents, a number of organizations, funded mostly through the California Endowment, also lent their guidance and support. Issues ranging from growing local produce to literacy and education were addressed. However, the event itself centered on getting residents to the polls this November in order to make their voices heard. Voting is seen as the chief concern, because many other problems in the community can be more easily solved when residents are properly represented.
