Nearly 100 coaches, administrators, and retired also honored retired Access Sacramento Executive Director Ron Cooper with a plaque for his support of high school athletics and his creation of “Game of the Week” in 1996.
The coaches commented on their teams strengths and weaknesses, but this year more frequently noted their emphasis on building character, responsibility and maturity.
Several coaches were in their first year in the position, and thanked those coaches still in the room whom they played for many years before.
Senior coaches likewise were appreciative of the number of their former student-athletes who were now teachers and coaches.
