Do you have a huge SMUD bill? Do you care about the environment and the air? Well, if you do, here are a few tips to lower you bill and your production of cut climate changing-changing greenhouse gases.
Whenever it’s a beautiful day or the place you are going is not too far and within walking distance, just take a walk instead of taking the car. Also try not using the dryer and instead hang dry your clothes; it saves money. You can also enjoy meatless meals and avoid using the stove, that saves money too. Try not to leave the computer on at night or the television. Start with one of those examples and then make it a fun thing to do with your family. The benefits of this would be saving money, making yourself healthier, and that it can make a difference in the world we leave behind when we’re gone.
If you really want to be a part of the solution, join the Cool California Challenge. It is a fun way to help and Sacramento is one of the three 2012-2013 Cool California Cities. All you have to do is go to http://www.coolcalifornia.org/community-challenge and put your energy bills (PG&E & SMUD) since March (you can find them online) and your odometer readings in all of your cars. After the initial sign-up effort, you can easily go back into each month to add new bills. On October 20th there will be a Cut Your Cubes Scavenger Hunt!
