There are dozens of reasons of why volunteering is important. But to start volunteering at a young age is the most rewarding! Why? Participating in volunteer opportunities looks awesome on your college resume and fulfills community service requirements! Plus, you are serving the community and environment. Consecutive involvement in a project shows schools and managers that you are committed and responsible. Committing to a volunteer project in your community reveals leadership and loyalty.

Of course volunteering is for all ages and skill levels that’s why everyone should take part at least once in their life. Sharing your time and skills with others is a great experience because you feel good about it afterwards! It is such a refreshing feeling to spend the day serving food to others or cleaning a local park.

I volunteered in high school but stopped when I moved away for college. After four years of volunteering here and there I decided to get back to serving others. I started volunteering with HandsOn Sacramento in March and have committed my time to coordinating and organizing a monthly park clean up. On the third Saturday of every month youth volunteers come together to clean up parks in Sacramento. Our next meet is August 25 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at Sundance Park. I encourage you to come out! It is a great chance to meet some new people and help out Sacramento.
