For the first time, Access Sacramento cable TV “Game of the Week”  (GOTW) will broadcast the football season live on Friday’s at 7 p.m. on Comcast and Surewest Cable Channel 17 and AT&T U-verse cable channel 99. Coverage begins Friday, August 31 with the long time rivals Nevada Union at the Grant High Pacers. In total, 17 different high schools will be seen, broadcast from around Sacramento County, during the 10 game, regular season schedule.

Play-by-play announcing will be handled by veteran GOTW producer Will James, with descriptive analysis and commentary by veteran coach, Jim Dimino. The duo has handled GOTW high school football broadcasts on a weekly taped-delayed basis since 1996.

Why live this season for the first time? Access Sacramento is leasing state-of-the-art transmission equipment and cell phone technology to transmit the games digitally to the Access Sacramento studios for broadcast on the cable systems. Game coverage will include player and coach interviews, instant replay and a full graphics package using a combination of paid and volunteer Access Sacramento staff. The production team numbers 8-12 hard working crew.

Each Friday broadcast will be repeated twice on cable channel 17: the next morning, Saturday at 11 a.m. and again, the following Tuesday at 7 p.m. The games are also available (allow two weeks) for “On-Demand” Comcast “X-Finity” regional customers, free of charge i
