For The past few years or so the city of Sacramento has been cutting back. Due to the budget cuts, many community centers have been closed down. Community centers are major hang out spots for youth within the community, but without them, young people are left wondering where to go to now?

But taking advantage of the few community centers that are still open is what the people who live in the various Council Districts in the City of Sacramento are doing. For instance, Council member Kevin Mc Carthy is presenting The District 6 HOT SPOT. This recurring event will be held at the George Sims Community center located on 6207 Logan st, Sacramento CA 95824. Boys and girls ages 13-19 are welcomed to come play Basketball, Volleyball, chill in the teen room, watch movies, play some games and munch on some snacks etc.

The date that the Hot spot will be opened are August 17th & 24th and September 14th, 21st and 28th. Those interested in more information should call (916) 808-6789. As for District 7, they will be hosting a family movie night.

The movie night will take place on August 11th and 18th. The Smurfs with be showing at dusk on August 11th at Reith Park located at 5755 Rightwood way Despicable Me will be showing on August 18th also at dusk and located at Two Rivers Park located at 3166 Two Rivers Drive.

Note both movies are rated PG.
