There’s lots of fun to be had this week on LiveWire! The R25 Complex is jumping this season with a radio drama and a theater festival. The Sac Geeks have lots of fun groups you can learn about including miniature War-Gaming. Watch LiveWire to learn more!
Penny Kline from Ovation Stage will be on LiveWire to tell us all about the Durang Festival at the R25 Complex. The Durang Festival celebrates the unique writer Christopher Durang. It will feature dark comedies and interesting characters like “Naomi in the Living Room” and “Baby With the Bath Water”. It also includes “Nina in the Morning”, “The Actor’s Nightmare”, “Mrs. Sorkin” and “Sister Mary Ignatious Explains It All”. The Festival takes place at The Three Penny Playhouse at R & 25th Street in Midtown Sacramento, August 18th through September 9th.

Also happening at the R25 Complex inside the California Stage theater is Ray Bradbury’s “Mars Is Heaven”. He wrote this classic short sci-fi story in 1947 for a magazine and later adapted it for radio. California Stage is re-creating this radio drama for your entertainment. Join in on the celebration of Ray Bradbury’s birthday on August 22nd. The show starts promptly at 7pm so make reservations and get there early.

We are also happy to welcome guests from our series about Sac Geeks. Mike O’Brien from The Miniature War-gaming Society will be on the show to share information about their meet up group and activities. If you like warring games, history and historical re-enactments you may enjoy learning more about this fun group. They play miniature war games that are played kind of like a chess game, but with figures and a miniature landscapes. They base their games on historical events and sometimes they put a creative twist on the games, too. There’s also a real art to painting the figures and creating these fantastic landscapes.
