The Board of Access Sacramento appointed Ruth Ibarra as the 15th Board member for the 2012-13 term at the monthly meeting July 19. Ms. Ibarra looks forward to bringing a youth perspective to Board decision making. Her other activities include leadership in the SEIU Local 1000 as Chief Steward/Vice President and is active with the Sac State Alumni Assn.- Latino Chapter President. Welcome to the Board Ruth!

Also honored for his many achievements, the Board presented a plaque to Carl Burton, Past Chair Emeritus of the Access Sacramento Board of Directors. Carl has served on the Board of Access Sacramento for more than a decade. He left the Board for one year after terming out, then rejoined the Board for another six-years, and when asked what are his future intentions? Carl smiled slyly and said, “Why run for the Access Sacramento Board of Directors next year”.

The current Board Chair Jo Ann Fuller and other Board members took turns thanking him for his service and for his leadership. Member Mayue Carlson commented, “Carl you have inspired me as my mentor – thank you!” On behalf of the staff and membership – thanks Carl and we will see you again very soon.
