Celebrate and support local food and local farmers at the opening day of the Oak Park Farmers Market Saturday May 5th. The Oak Park Farmers market offers farm-fresh, affordable, convenient, healthy local products such as: fruits, vegetables, cheeses, herbs, flowers, baked goods, olive oil and much more. This year’s opening day will unveil the extensive McClatchy Park site improvements including widened concrete walkways, decomposed granite paving for vendor stalls, landscaping, shade trees and benches. Their will be over 20 vendors including three certified organic producers and some new unique additions. One of those is Dragon Gourmet Mushrooms which offers delicious oyster, shitake and beech varieties and grow your own mushroom starter kits.

Opening day will feature a free raffle with big-ticket items like $100 gift certificate to Mulvaney’s Restaurant and hand-crafted Adirondack chairs, craft activities for children and great hot food vendors like Yolanda’s Tamales and Volks Waffle. Thanks to a contribution from Rabobank, the farm-friendly lending institution, the Oak Park Farmers Market will once again double
EBT/Calfresh (formerly known as food stamps) customers’ purchases.
