“Media Edge” is a video magazine series presented on Access Sacramento Channel 17 every Sunday at 8:00 PM. “Media Edge” provides two hours of in-depth, thought-provoking, progressive viewpoints every week since April 2005. “Media Edge” features segments created by local producers, along with nationally distributed videos and documentaries. This coming Sunday, Naomi Tutu, the daughter of Archbishop Desmond Tutu, was recorded during a visit to Sacramento in March.
“An Evening With Naomi Tutu” (46.5 minutes) – Tutu was educated in Swaziland, the US and England, and divided her adult life between South Africa and the US. She served as a development consultant in West Africa and a program coordinator for programs on Race and Gender and Gender-Based Violence in Education at the African Gender Institute at the University of Cape Town. The challenges of growing black and female in apartheid South Africa has led to her present avocation as an activist for human rights. Those experiences taught her how much we all lose when any of us is judged purely on physical attributes. During her Sacramento appearance, she blended her passion for human dignity with humor and personal stories.
Watch her passionate insights on this week’s episode of “Media Edge” 8:00 PM Sunday April 22 on Access Sacramento channel 17.
