The Scotts Miracle-Gro Company is making a commitment to garden and green space development by promoting GRO1000, a community outreach initiative first launched in 2011. GRO1000 will result in the creation of 1,000 community gardens and green spaces by 2018, during the Company’s 150th anniversary.
Through this effort, Scotts wants to bring the benefits that gardens and green spaces provide to more and more neighborhoods, schools, and communities, particularly to those areas in need.
In addition to GRO1000 public garden and green space installations, Scotts Miracle-Gro is providing GRO1000 Grassroots Grants to help foster community spirit and public service. Grassroots Grants of up to $1,500 are awarded to local communities to help bring edible gardens, flower gardens and public green spaces to even more neighborhoods in the United States.
Grant applications for the 2012 program will be accepted from January 23, 2012 to February 24, 2012. All applicants will be notified by April 6 of their statuses.
