The Access Sacramento Board of Directors appointed Ed Fletcher to fill the open seat vacated by Margie Metzler. Mr. Fletcher is a reporter for the Sacramento Bee and has recently produced two programs cablecast on Channel 17. His first Hometown-TV production was a roundtable discuss of “Journalism in the Age of the Internet”. Last fall, he produced a studio panel discussion on the topic of building a new arena in downtown Sacramento. For each program, he invited fellow journalists such as Marcos Breton (Bee Columnist), Rich Eisen (Sacramento Press Club President), and Judy Lim (Associated Press).
Fletcher will complete the remaining 17 months of Metzler’s two-year elected term (until June, 2013). He is currently a Board member for the Sacramento Press Club, Unit Chair for the California Media Workers Guild, and started his journalism career at Southern University in Baton Rouge, La. He also graduated locally from Casa Roble High School in Orangevale.
“I look forward to serving on the Board and getting to know more about Access Sacramento activities”, he stated. He joins fellow Bee reporter Walter Yost (retired) on the Board and together, they will help organize mentors for the Neighborhood News Bureau Project.
Jo Ann Fuller, Board Chair, commented, “We will miss Margie’s enthusiasm and energy as she pursues her career in San Jose. But Ed will be a great addition. His help and advice will be invaluable to our outreach efforts in the community.”
