Sacramento’s only comedy club featuring stand-up, improve and sketch comedy, The Sacramento Comedy Spot, opened in 2005. It’s establishment was a result of the success of Free Hooch Comedy Troupe, a sketch comedy group that performed from 2001 to 2006. The Sacramento Comedy Spot presents weekly comedy shows they assure “you won’t see anywhere else in Sacramento,” such as “Anti-Cooperation League”, where a special guest is interviewed as the inspiration for improvised comedy scenes. Another performance is “Lady Business”, where “Sacramento’s only all-female troupe” creates a show based on the audience’s stories.

In addition to offering performances, the Comedy Spot also hosts auditions and improv, stand-up and sketch comedy classes for the public at various costs. They also offer a $25-per-month membership that includes unlimited Improv 1 classes and attendance to some of their performances. The Comedy Sport classes are for anyone who just wants to have a good time and also for those who would like to perform for The Comedy Spot.
